Laundry Room Cabinets

Laundry cabinetry must leave machines serviceable while organising washing, drying, folding and household supplies. Select the appliances and record their operating requirements before fixing cabinet openings.

Plan the work sequence

  1. Collect and sort laundry, including the baskets or hampers used.
  2. Load and unload machines without blocking doors or the main passage.
  3. Dry, hang or transfer items according to the appliance setup.
  4. Fold or treat garments on a clear surface if the room allows.
  5. Store detergents, cleaning tools, linens and hazardous products at appropriate access heights.

A cabinet layout should support this sequence. Extra tall storage can reduce useful folding surface; enclosing machines can make access, heat or vibration management harder if the manufacturer’s requirements are ignored.

Coordinate machines and services

  • Provide selected model numbers, overall dimensions, door and drawer movement, hoses, plugs, ventilation and manufacturer clearances.
  • Show water, waste, power and any dryer vent, with the responsible local trade identified.
  • Keep shut-off valves, filters and service points reachable after cabinets and worktops are installed.
  • Confirm floor drainage, waterproofing, room ventilation and how leaks or vibration will be managed by the responsible building design.
  • Record finished wall and floor dimensions, skirtings, doors and circulation with baskets in use.

Prepare the room brief

Send the plan, appliance specifications, service points, laundry routine, supply list, hamper sizes, desired hanging and folding functions, wet-area conditions and final-measurement party. Mark any appliance or connection still to be chosen so the proposal does not freeze an assumed opening.

Coordinate the laundry package around real equipment

Share appliance and service information with the room dimensions and storage list. The review can then separate cabinet scope from plumbing, electrical, ventilation and waterproofing work.
